I believe that the song speaks great truths, but it just comes off the wrong way. And once again, here is an instance where the truth is inappropriate, and in today's world, socially unacceptable. Sometimes, according to the world, the best place to keep things is in your head. In my opinion, there are way too many mixed opinions to really label the song in one specific essence. Most things should never really be expressed, but on the other hand that's what the creative arts are for. What are people supposed to believe?? The feelings for this issue are so argumentative that I just think that they should be ignored or left alone. This ideas that this song projects in particular should stay in the heads of racists and in the pages of history textbooks. What's done is done-why do people always feel the need to instigate problems that have already been long gone? Ignorance is by far the Achilles heel of all social interaction, but there are better, less blunt ways to compromise differences.

I believe it is a conversation starter. The song speaks the truth on both sides, and unfortunately the scenarios that are in the song are true and occur a lot all the time. The reason for backlash the song got is because society doesn't like to point out problems they have. Society would rather keep everything hidden and not talked about, so when you do talk about you will get a lot of backlash. The song speaks the truth though, and I like it.

I feel that the song was only sung to point out a problem that was "solved" but continues to haunt Black Americans and White Americans till this day. There was nothing wrong with exposing the racial issues of slavery in the South. I feel that L. L. Cool J. was blamed the most because the outright said, in his lyrics, how white people and black people treat one another, while Brad Paisley was kind of given leeway because he did not explain the problem as blunt as L. L. Cool J. I believe that there is no such thing as "accidental racists" and people should realize that we are not in those times anymore. Everyone should treat each other with respect and not through the past like that in aach other's faces.

In today's society, we tend to always take issues like the song in this case to offense. Brad Paisley and LL Cool J wanted to send a message to the world saying that you can't have prejudices if you don't know a person if they are a different ethnicity than you. I have been in many situations where I was judged. One time I was at a basketball game, and this one kid, who was of another ethnicity, sat next to me, and looked at me with a grin. I chose not to say anything, but that still shows me that racism is alive and well. Racism is still something I believe is the main problem in the world, and the sad part is that some people tend to still be prejudice.

I remember when the song first came out and I COMPLETELY agreed with the song. To be honest these types of things annoy me a lot like to an extent where its like I wish everybody would just shut up.. I feel like more people in this society are way to soft and get their feelings hurt to easily over things like this, so many people hate the truth which is why they don't like to face it and they just sit around being butt-hurt all the time like seriously -_- get a grip on life..the song was appropriate and it was doing nothing but stating facts...and if who ever got upset about the song needs to get their life together stop complaining and learn to be more diverse when it comes to meeting other people of different cultures and ethnicity... if both of them dropped it why can't the rest of society let the past stay in the past. and of course there is still racism going on but people need to understand that not every person they come across of another race is prejudice...SHEESH

Racism is such an enthralling topic to me because I'm guilty of not knowing the true meaning of racism. People are so quick to spout, "OH THAT'S RACIST," and "YOU'RE RACIST!" nowadays that if racism slapped me across the face, I'd probably just laugh.

The song speaks the truth from two different points of view. People do not wanna believe these truths because they know its true. African Americans know that we assume that a confederate flag means that they do not like us. As a child I was actually scared of people who drove cars or even have a flag, I was even scared to walk past one because I associated it with whites hating blacks. Also , if African Americans feel this way i know that whites have too too. And it's not like we can forget about the past, history is history but it is there so that it will not be repeated. It's not there so that we can look back on it and raise our children to think a certain way about a different race.

Controversy arose when this song was released due to the title of this song. Brad Paisley and LL Cool J are letting us know what we witness may not actually be what it appears to be. The song wasn't good but the message had a lot of meaning to it. This is a good example framing. The way an issue is framed can significantly affect the outcomes. The title of the song "Accidental Racist" was a poor choice to frame this new song. In today's society you have to watch everything you say because it "might" offend a particular person. For example, Ben Bernanke has to watch what he says because he has a lot of influence on our economy as the head of the Federal Reserve. Although everyday citizens don't have nearly as much power as he does, what we say can still affect people around us. If you make a video about homosexuality and say something slighting offensive you will receive backlash from a variety of groups. You may not be trying to offend anyone, but it may seem that way. For example, people say that Freudian slips are an error in speech, memory, or physical action that is interpreted as occurring due to the interference of an unconscious subdued wish. Racism and many other issues are touchy subjects for many people today so be considerate when you decide what to say.

After hearing the song straight through, It comes of extremely aggressive with lines talking about Robert E. Lee and discussing how how the only reason African Americans don't like the confederate flag is because of the meaning supposed meaning behind it, which is racism. While actually we as a country we should not like the song since it is separating the country tearing apart the unity that we once had. Also the song is not original since Aerosmith and Run DMC made walk this way which is about breaking down the racial barrier.

As I listened to the song straight through, I tend to lean towards Brad Paisley's part, and yes, that is biased because I am a fan of both him and the country music genre. I thought it addressed an awkward situation which I'm sure occurs a lot. In the song Paisley talks about how he was wearing a shirt with a rebel flag on it, not because he wanted to flaunt the ideas of so long ago. He was just rockin' his Skynyrd love. People from the south are proud of where they're from, but not all that the south has represented in the past, which is the main focus on the song. That is what should be remembered.
