Despite the video and its evidence, I still stand firmly for the belief that homosexuality is nurture. This is simply because there is no way children at such age could understand what they're doing-they learn from their surroundings, whether they are taught by others or life experiences. There must have been additional variables that were unseen in the studies that made all of the subjects 'find themselves'. People cannot be born a certain way, they just acquire certain customs and ways of life from the people around them. In truth, we are all mimickers. In no particular instance can I recall a new form of behavior, because there is absolutely no original thought left in the universe. The only possible rebuttal to my argument would be if a person who was ignorant to homosexuality claimed to have feelings for their same gender, and even then, I don't believe this has happened in the past 300 years. Homosexuality today seems to be all a matter of what you see, how you are treated, and what is socially acceptable in one's environment.

This video made me think. I believe that homosexuality is nurture and I don't think a person can be born gay, but this video gave me evidence otherwise. I don't see how genes can play a part in determining one's sexual orientation. I believe hormones can, but not genes. Someone could be born with more testosterone or estrogen and then consequently become gay, but I don't see how genetics would play a part. I still believe that homosexuality is nurture. I just don't see how someone can instinctly be gay. There had to have been some environmental factor that made them that way.

I believe that no matter how many studies are done and however many theories are made, no one will truly ever know the origin of homosexuality. It would be wonderful to find the true origin of homosexuality, but I feel that some researchers read too much into it. "You're more likely to be a homosexual if you have older siblings and are right handed" is something I found quite ridiculous; most of the world's population is right-handed. Maybe people become homosexuals through genes or the environment. Regardless, it should not matter. I feel that a lot of people treat most homosexuals as a whole different species, and not regular people. I think that people should just leave this whole "origin thing" alone. Making it as if it isn't right, or there has to be a certain way that people should act, is just wrong. But I did find the video quite interesting. (please excuse my ranting:D)

I found this video to be quite interesting. I feel that these types of studies emphasize the fact that many aspects of human nature are a result of nature and nurture interacting together. I found it interesting that when a woman is pregnant with a boy that her body will fight off the new substances that are unique only to males. The findings on homosexuality and number of older brothers was especially interesting considering I have a younger brother who has an older brother. However, I don't think the basis for determining someone's sexuality can be attributed to family members. These findings are all very interesting.

I find it interesting that people could really think that homosexuality can be hereditary. In today's generation I often find some people being bi-sexual and gay just to look ''cool'' or to seem different when in reality they're most of the time just confused and they don't know what else to call it. Its definitely something that you pick up on over the years but in my opinion can never be genetic.

This might sound a bit out of context but I was just watching a show (Guy Code) about homosexuality and how they don't care about people sexuality. When she said that people thought that being gay was a nurture issue but really was a hereditary issue it change how I think about gays because I always felt that it was a nurture thing. I felt this way because at South Cobb High School students tend to try to be gay because it is a trend to them but really they are trying to fit in with the crowd. I also think that there was always gays but they never really felt comfortable with saying that they were gay till the 20th century when it was ok to be gay.

this video just affirms that the effect of an environment can bring such an impact on a child's life. I'm pretty sure with enough shaping and reinforcement the barbie boy would have grew up "straight". homosexuality is most definitely nurture, you can't be born gay. A kid simply learns what it can/ cannot do and obviously his parents let him be around girl stuff so he's gay. Then you got GIJO guy in his room why didn't he play barbies???

After watching this video my views on homosexuality have changed from a path that is chosen to something you're born with which can only mean that it's genetic. if my child were gay, in no way would i attempt to dissuade him from homosexuality because i don't believe the choice belongs to him on whether or not to be gay. I would encourage him to be the most flamboyant homosexual on the planet because no matter what i say or what i do, he's still going to be gay at the end of the day.

Seeing this video honestly has me completely in shock about everything. At some points in my life I did think that being Homosexuality was a choice and that was the only way of them being homosexual, but after seeing this video my perspective has changed some what there are still a few things about homosexuality that i know will probably never be able to get explained but the fact that this video shows that being Gay can be Genetically LINKED to homosexuality is very interesting especially with the whole family who had a large number of Gay males in their family

This is not the first time I have seen a video with multiple theories in regards to homosexuality. There may be a genetic link, but based on what I have seen it is more nurture than nature. The segment with the little fraternal twin boys was proof to me of this. Yes they were raised in the same environment, but the mother admitted to encouraging Adam's likes and wants of more feminine like toys. I have seen a similar study where a nine year old boy just like Adam states that he wants to be a girl and the parents encourage this habit. One day the boy told his parents he did not want to be a girl anymore. Studies like this just shows that children are just too easily influenced and do not know what they want. It is truly nature that impacts and influences of things such as homosexuality.

his is the first time I've ever seen this video and as I was going on it slowly started to confus me throwing different possibilities of how you could or could not possibly be born a homosexual. It explained how genetics could be a possible reason for it, this made sence, since traits can be over riddin by other chromosomes. It also explained how hormonse could change your sexual orintation. However when the video start saying how your left and right handedness could be a factor, completely through me off since like they said the twins where ambidextrous.

I find it very interesting to look at the hormones behind it all. I, personally, believe that a man or woman is born homosexual. Think of those born into families where being gay is thought of as wrong. Those kids didn't chose to be homosexual, nor where they placed in a welcoming environment to it. Also, there are multiple studies that show a gay man's brain functions very similarly to a women's. It did peek my interest to hear about hormones being the cause of homosexuality, especially when we see cases of identical twins having different sexualities. Hormones in the womb could be key in determining sexuality. When the topic was brought up about there being a correlation between sexuality and handedness, that felt like a far stretch. If you look hard and long enough, you could find correlation between anything.

Even after seeing this video and looking at all the evidence , I still do not believe that people are born homosexual. Also, I do not understand why they believe just because a little girl likes more guy related activities more than girls that she just isnt going through the tomboy stage. I honestly feel like people are trying to understand and come up with answers for homosexuality by saying people are born that way, but it also depends on your religion. Because in many it is a sin that is unfrogiven so why would they be made that way. It's the enviroment , I believe and the developed mindset. People do not have to get it from their home enviroment, there is also school and the media.

To truly understand this topic let's think back to the video we watched in class, "Dr. Money and the Boy With No Penis." A lot of people are saying that people who become homosexuals is due to their upbringings. Nurture rather than nature. A lot of you are saying it is nurture due to your own beliefs on homosexuality. Although the video we saw in class is slightly different from this topic it can still be used as a comparison of how nurture affects how one grows up. In this video there were two twins. One twin was to be raised as a boy and one was to be raised as a girl. The parents did everything in their power to show the "former" boy to act as if he was a girl. He felt something was wrong all his life and never felt like he could fit in with the groups he should have been with. They never told him he was truly a boy until he was roughly around 14 years old. If nurture rather than nature played a major part wouldn't he have been conditioned to act as if he was a girl? Wouldn't he have not acted as if something was wrong with him throughout the years? This just proves that nurture doesn't play as much of a role as some may say. I'm not saying that nature is the one and only factor, but rather only a portion. Nurture could possibly contribute to the correlation of homosexuality in some cases, but you can't say it does in all cases. Hormones may play a role in the determination factor of whether or not someone does become a homosexual, but to blindly say that one thing is the determination factor due to one's preconceived notions is not even conceivable. Only more research could find what truly causes us to be heterosexual or homosexual.

Regardless of what the video says, I strongly believe that homosexuality is mainly influenced by the who, where, and how we are raised. (Nurture over Nature) It seems as though homosexuality has become more common in our generation versus previous and I believe that there is a simple and logical explanation to that. It is because our environment (which not only plays a part in who we are with, but what we are exposed to on TV, in music, etc.) is far more accepting of homosexuality. In previous generations, people who were homosexual were looked upon as different or strange, but now the country has become far more open to progression and acceptance to things that are non-traditional. And although there was definitely still homosexuals then, there are far more now due to the more welcoming environment. I do not believe it has little to do with nature, and that there is little proof to support it being a inherited biologically.

This made me laugh, to say the least. I found this very entertaining, especially when the little boy came out so modestly and naive and told the interview that he was like a girl. It was too cute for words. He's just so passionate about his dolls and stuffed animals! Also, the older twins were funny too--and wow, the straight twin was so open and loving to his soon-out-of-the-closet brother than I imagined. If my eldest brother asked my older brother if he was gay and he said yes, it wouldn't have ended that pretty.

As I have seen in many cases especially this one, I believe that homosexuality derives from nuture, not nature. I found that were studies conducted that would prove otherwise. In society, there tends to be an increase in the amount of homosexuals in the world, and I believe that if a child is exposed to this type of behavior, they will tend to believe this is the norm.

This video simply posed as a visual aid in strengthening my belief that a person can in fact be born homosexual. Yes, sexuality is implied to be distinguished by nurture rather nature, but when it comes down to pure facts, nurture plays a key role when it comes to a person's sexual identity. A child cannot be fully molded into "liking" or being something they don't truly desire, and this was proven by the horrid experiment done by psychologist John Money. David Reimer was nurtured to be raised as a girl but the experiment fell short. The nature of him being 'male' and enjoying more 'masculine' activities proved to be the key reason he couldn't be nurtured as a girl.

The finding from these studies are very eye opening. I do agree that homosexuality is not depended completely either nature or nurture but a mixture of both. There are many exceptions to every finding discovered like twins having different sexual orientation so if its either genetics or upbringing we might not be able to determine for certain. Hormones ,I believe, do not determine whether one is attracted to one gender or another but they could have an effect on behavior (whether a boy is more feminine or a girl is more masculine). Overall I honestly think we will never be able to find the source of these types of topics because there are too many unknown factors that we cannot account for. This however is a very good example of nature vs nurture.

I don't think we will ever truly know why people are homosexual despite all the evidence and studies done. Think about it, why are people straight? or why are people bisexual? The fact is that nobody knows. Chances are we will never know. I personally think it doesn't matter and don't really care.I believe the whole origin thing should just be left alone. But I was rather intrigued by the statement made at the end that boys are foreign to a woman's body. *MIND BLOWN* I never really thought about that and just found it interesting.
