It's amazing how fake our food has really become without us (the consumers) really knowing. In a sense, I feel that these addicting flavors aren't the whole reason why obesity is at such an all time high in the United States. I just wonder, given the current outcome of how we basically don't consume real food, if we were given a sample of naturally flavored food, without being told, would we be truly satisfied?

This video really makes me wonder what I have been putting into my body and what kind of effect will all these chemicals have on us in the future. I don't think its fair for these workers to put these chemicals in our food and not let us know what we are eating. Also the fact that even natural flavors aren't real is crazy. Do the people who create these products not feel guilty? Do they not care that their job is helping to create such an obesity problem in america? oh and the fact they their goal is to make these foods addicting is selfish. It makes me never want to eat junk food or anything that's not organic ever again.

Woah! This makes me feel like I have been eating lies all my life. Just thinking about the vending machines at school and how many students rely on that for a snack, lunch, and even breakfast, worries me. Sure we are young now, but when we are older is this issue of "flavor addiction" going to subside or multiply!! I give credit to those flavor creators they have an awesome ability, no doubt. They are only giving us what we ask for in America, so blaming them is not the way to go. These people are simply just putting out what sells. The real change should happen right at home. Obesity will only diminish when Americans change whats in their own kitchen.

Gosh darnit, why are all the things that taste so good so bad for you?! I'm an avid eater blessed with a fast metabolism, but it wont always be this efficient! Info like this makes me even more determined to play a sport or be involved in some physical activity I can endure until I grow old so I won't have to rely on my metabolism to be slender. Although, I understand I am what I eat, so eventually I'll have to cut off all these tantalizing, hypnotic foods. I wish healthy food was as addicting!

Personally I do not like the fact that they are trying to commercialize all these flavors. To me doing so would take away the uniqueness of creating your own flavor that others can enjoy. If they start commercializing every flavor they find then that flavor will be no longer unique. These people know what they are doing! They even said they wanted to make addicting flavors to make you want more no matter if it's good or bad for your health.; all for the sake of money.

It is sad that for most companies money is more important than the health of their customers. Science is a double-edged sword: it can be used either for good or in this case for bad. I glad that I am “trying” to eat more organic food products.

This whole process is profoundly interesting, given the fact that a few centuries ago we had no clue that some of today's most common flavors even existed. Now, innovative technology has allowed us to translate a natural smell into an artificial flavor. Amazing. Just simply, amazing. In an alternative perspective, the mere idea of how someone thought of such an illusion to fool the senses is absolutely brilliant. Nature's fruits are basically being made in laboratories now, and if our taste buds were put to the test, I don't think we'd know any better about how to distinguish the original from the psuedo-food. Ingenuity at its finest.

Ever since I was little my mother always told me "everything that tastes good to you isn't good for you" and she was right. I had no idea there was a thing such as "flavor addiction" though. That is something new I learned. I knew food production places had to have some sort of trick to get people hooked. Luckily I have a fast metabolism and have been active my whole life, but later on I wonder if all this will catch up to me.

They say you are what you eat; these chemicals in artificial and "natural" flavoring is what is replacing those chemicals found in naturally grown food flavored with actual natural substances. It makes me wonder what kinds of these man-synthesized flavors cause diseases like cancer. In addition, it's like the flavoring industry is your enemy but you don't know it with all the fake flavors that are produced.

jeeezzz... I almost want to cry lol I understand trying to get the consumers to buy more of your product but i had no idea it had come this far. It's really kind of scary to think about the fact that even the so called "healthy" foods contain such chemicals in them. This literally makes me want to wake up my parents and tell them to take me to like trader joe's or just a plain and simple market and buy all of their fruit and produce instead of going to the usual supermarkets like Kroger, Walmart, Target etc.

It's surprising to me that flavoring is added to almost everything whether it's healthy or just high calorie meals can do a lot to your body. Just think, millions of chemicals stored in your body not knowing what effect it can have on you, and you can't really change it. It's a tough decision we need to make when determining what we are eating on a day to day basis.

The producers of the foods that we so greatly love are not interested in our well being but rather in our money. It's easier to form an addiction to a chemical than it is to form one for something that is naturally grown . These companies want to produce products that give you the sense that you can't get enough of it. Going to the farmers market or whole foods is a "breath of fresh air" knowing that the food you find their probably hasn't been injected with any chemicals

It's unbelievable to see what they do to the things we eat! What happened to natural foods? In all honestly, these companies only care about the money it makes them when we become addicted to their chemically made, fake foods. knowing that we need the right nutrients to live in a healthy fashion, these foods seem like a huge, red flag in terms of taking care of yourself.

What has our food evolved into? It is no longer a necessity for life; it's a pleasure. I'm not saying it's bad that we enjoy the flavor of life, because that's far from what I'm saying. It's all about the money. People are being paid to determine the best way to keep us eating, buying, and returning for another fix. They're keeping us addicted, and the worst part is there is no regret from these doctors. I feel as though we all caught his ending comment. "..is obesity going down? No." We all indulge, yes, but there is something wrong when the place our food originates from looks like the back lab of a pharmacy. Why create chemical copies of great flavors when we can just use the original flavors themselves?

I dont understand why the people who create these artifical flavors believe it is okay for them to give us artififcal foods without the consumer knowing. I feel as if now people perfer money over the health of many people. Whats wrong with the original flavors of the tastes that have been modified to make people more "addicted" so they can spend more money?

I don't like the idea of eating processed food. In fact if "organic food" was cheap I'd rather buy that instead. I don't think its fare that these companies can just manipulate our taste buds and senses so that we are addicted to foods. I think the FDA should do something about this if they know we are just eating or drinking chemicals not eating or drinking normal foods.

At the end of the day it is all about making as much profit as you possibly can. You can't be a successful business if you can't acquire new and repeat customers. If you want people to continuously consume your product then you have to make it addicting. You have to make the food pleasure and desirable. You have to change and mimic the taste to create the cravings that they can't live without. This is what will increase your profit margins and lower your acquisition cost over time. The people are the individuals who demand these products, the companies are only the suppliers of what we demand. If the people don't want to be hooked on these artificial flavorings, then not only would demand decrease but so would supply. This, though, is not the case. There is a surplus of this addictive substances, therefore the price is so cheap it beats the better alternative.

I think food companies are too concerned on just making more money. This lead for more processed fake foods out there that can almost be as addicted as drugs. I am just afraid of how far it will go in the future. Obesity is a serious concern in this country and these companies are not helping the cause. I admit I consume a lot of products that are genetically modified but that is because finding affordable organic foods is not easy. We are too concerned on what tastes good instead we should focus on what is good for our bodies. I think the best way of dealing with this is through education. Also, certain limits should be put on there companies.

As a cooperation I completely understand their use of manipulating flavored but as a person a disagree with their methods. To make a profit from the people what you want is for them to keep coming back but at the end of the day no one can TRULLY force you to eat something. People these days tend to look towards the easier way out when it comes to meal such as ready made foods in cans and boxes. I think if people ate more naturally and from places like farmers markets they would see what real food tastes like and not just chemically changes substances. All in all. Think that the blame is to be both on the corporations and the people.

It doesn't come to a surprise to me that companies are doing this, everything we eat is artificial or has had something done to it. True organic food is getting hard to find and because of the advances in science, they will soon not be desired since you can now buy the flavoring (which taste better anyways) cheaper and faster. the number one goal of these companies is to make money and they do that by making you addicted to these flavors. It's no surprise.

Hey, just looking around some blogs, seems a fairly nice platform you are applying. I'm currently using Wordpress for a few of my sites however looking to change one over to a platform much like yours as a trial run run. Anything in particular you'll recommend about it?

By reading any historical book or any good novel, we not only seek knowledge and get information at a large. In fact, we also open our mind towards thinking and imagining.
